KEMET Introduces Pulse Discharge Multilayer Ceramic Capacitors

Offer Reliable High Current Discharge Pulses in 200-Degree Celsius Harsh Environments

GREENVILLE, SC--(Marketwired - April 18, 2016) - KEMET Corporation (NYSE: KEM), a leading global supplier of electronic components, has enhanced its high temperature and high voltage capabilities by adding Pulse Discharge Multilayer Ceramic Capacitors. This 200-degree Celsius series delivers reliable short-duration pulse generation in harsh environments typically associated with munitions and down-hole detonation circuitry. KEMET's patented high reliability base metal electrode dielectric system is 100% Pb-free, RoHS compliant and REACH compliant without exemptions.

KEMET Pulse Discharge capacitors offer higher and more uniform breakdown voltage performance than competitive dielectric solutions resulting in increased reliability in customer field applications. When dealing with large and expensive detonation systems, increased reliability can quickly result in significant cost savings.

With discharge voltages of up to 3,500 volts and capacitances up to 150 nF, Pulse Discharge capacitors are ideal for firing set circuitry utilizing exploding foil initiators or slapper detonators.

"KEMET's world-class C0G Pulse Discharge capacitors provide unparalleled energy delivery to support the growing needs for accuracy and efficiency in tools for the gas and oil Industry as well as other extreme applications that require rapid energy discharge," said Dr. John Bultitude, KEMET Vice President and Technical Fellow, Ceramic Technology.
