Kenexa High Performance Institute Launches at 26th Annual SIOP Conference

Workforce Experts to Present Sessions on Employee Engagement, Multigenerational Research, Environmentally Friendly Employee Behaviors, and Other Topics

WAYNE, PA--(Marketwire - Apr 12, 2011) - Kenexa (NASDAQ: KNXA), a global provider of business solutions for human resources, today announced the launch of the Kenexa High Performance Institute (KHPI) at the upcoming 26th Annual Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology, Inc. (SIOP) Conference. The SIOP Conference will take place Thursday, April 14 through Saturday, April 16, 2011, at the Hilton Chicago.

KHPI replaces the Kenexa Research Institute, which was originally formed in 2006. The institute's new name and redefined emphasis reflects its expanded activity and intense focus on high performance. Leading the Institute's multi-disciplinary team and key engagements are Tony Cockerill, Ph.D. and Jack W. Wiley, Ph.D. Key initiatives of the Institute include:

  • High Performance Organization Model - bringing together decades of global research, the Institute links organizational performance to leadership effectiveness, organizational design and the organizational environment to create a new model that will enable clients to transform performance globally.
  • WorkTrends - launched 25 years ago by Dr. Jack Wiley, WorkTrends now encompasses the High Performance Organization Model. In addition to new measure, WorkTrends is comprised of the employee engagement index, the performance excellence index and the leadership and managerial effectiveness indices. WorkTrends has been extended to cover 28 countries including those within the G20.
  • Kenexa Humanity Index - in alignment with Kenexa's mission to serve humanity, this Index has been expressly designed to provide a global measure of human well-being. Based on six facets of human well-being -- health, education, political voice, resource availability, economic security and personal life satisfaction -- for which KHPI is gathering perceptual and objective data at the country-level.
  • New Leadership Development Technology - by harnessing tomorrow's technology today, KHPI is building a new suite of on-line leadership development programs that use avatars, high-levels of interactivity, mobile applications and social networking to improve leadership effectiveness.
  • High Performance Women Leaders - as a prime contributor in the development of high performance women leaders, KHPI is designing and implementing a multi-faceted women leadership program.

At SIOP, numerous representatives from the Kenexa High Performance Institute will participate in panel discussions, forums and poster presentations during the conference, including Jack W. Wiley. Wiley, author of Strategic Employee Surveys, will participate in a panel discussion of "Controversies and Challenges in Employee Engagement: Perspectives from Leading Experts" on Thursday, April 14 at noon. The session will discuss what employee engagement is, why organizations care about employee engagement, and how research informs and is informed by the practice of engagement.

Susan D'Mello of KHRI will present several poster presentations, including "Green Company Rankings and Reporting of Pro-Environmental Efforts in Organizations" on Thursday, April 14 at 2:30 p.m. The poster session will present an examination of the number and types of pro-environmental behaviors reported by the 2009 Top 500 Green U.S. Companies on their corporate websites. Also on Thursday at 2:30 p.m., D'Mello will present the poster "Functional Motives for Environmental Behaviors: Findings from European Countries," which used a critical incidents methodology to examine functional motives reported from European work environments.

D'Mello's symposium session, "Focusing on Employees to Achieve Environmentally Sustainable Organizations," on Friday, April 15, at noon will feature a panel of speakers focused on the topics of individual-level green attitudes, knowledge and behaviors. Cross-cultural differences in employee green behaviors will be examined. On Friday at 4:30 p.m., D'Mello will present her final poster "Gender Stereotypes, Shifting Standards, and Employment Decision Bias: Meta-Analytic Findings," which examined the relationship between type of employment rating (individual or comparative) and gender effect sizes for workplace decisions.

The panel presentation, "Future Directions in Multigenerational Research and Its Application," on Thursday, April 14 at 3:30 p.m. will feature Brenda Kowske of KHRI. In recent years, there has been a growing interest among I-O psychologists in studying generational differences in the workplace. During the interactive forum, participants will discuss what future directions in research and application are needed as the field of generational differences moves forward.

On Saturday, April 16, at 1:00 p.m., Nigel Guenole and Tony Cockerill of Kenexa will present their poster "The Practical Implications of Rater Source Factors for Multisource Feedback." The poster will demonstrate how psychologically meaningful results can occur using a large sample of leaders from multinational corporations.

As the culminating event for SIOP members, the annual conference provides an outstanding experience, with presentations focusing on every aspect of industrial-organizational psychology. More information about the 26th Annual SIOP Conference is available by visiting www.siop.org/conferences.
