Kenosha's Lakefront Prepares to Sizzle in Just One Week

KENOSHA, WI--(Marketwire - Aug 17, 2012) -   The countdown to a sizzling good time has begun for Kenosha's annual Grill Games. Starting only a week from today, on August 24 and 25, the lakefront will be filled with grilling competitors, carnival rides, two stages of live music and delicious food. The extended two-day, free-admission festival is the ideal destination for all ages.

The main attraction is a Wisconsin State BBQ Competition featuring over 30 Kansas City Barbeque Society teams from around the region competing for $9,000 in prizes and trophies. Competitions include Dessert, Best of Grill Games, Anything Goes, and People's Choice.

Local celebrity teams will be competing in the Stinebrink's Piggly Wiggly Celebrity Challenge starting on Saturday at 4:00pm. Amateur grillers are also encouraged to register and participate in the Kenosha News Community Grilling Contest where the winner receives a $500 prize and brand new gas grill. Come out to see your neighbors, friends, and local celebrities sizzle their way to victory.

This year Grill Games is amping up the fun with activities and spectacles for all ages! Be sure to look for the Klement's Racing Sausages racing around Grill Games on Saturday from 12:00-3:00pm, as well as carnival rides and a second music stage.

If you're looking for the VIP treatment, new to Grill Games in 2012 is a luau lounge VIP tent sponsored by Dooley & Associates and Platinum Systems. The $50 tent admission puts you front and center for the live music, and includes food Friday & Saturday evenings, as well as all-you-can-drink beer, soda and water. Contact Kenosha Area Chamber of Commerce to reserve your tickets at 262.654.1234.

For the first time in 50 years, the red Pierhead Lighthouse will open to the public! To help with the preservation of the lighthouse, the tours will require a donation of $5.00 per adult and $1.00 per child.
