Kerio Announces Kerio Control Box, Unified Threat Management Hardware Appliance

Two New Hardware Options Further Expand the Flexibility Kerio Offers to SMBs Looking to Deploy a Complete Network Security Solution

SAN JOSE, CA--(Marketwire - November 30, 2010) - Kerio Technologies today unveils the latest addition to its Kerio Control gateway security product line, Kerio Control Box. Building upon a 13-year heritage of networking technology development, the newly updated UTM hardware solution is based on Kerio Control 7.1, the latest version of Kerio's award winning security software. Kerio Control Box offers network administrators a turnkey solution to manage user access, optimize network performance, and secure network systems and data.

Kerio Control sets the standard for usability among UTM products with an administration console that is both powerful and supremely intuitive. Whether configuring access policies for different groups of users, establishing site-to-site VPN tunnels between multiple locations, or producing a comprehensive report of Internet usage statistics, nothing is beyond the reach of a few mouse clicks.

As a ready to deploy appliance, Kerio Control Box incorporates specially selected hardware components ideally suited to insure the best performance of the software. It takes full advantage of the new web-based point-and-click administration in Kerio Control 7.1 to support remote configuration and management.

"Over the past year, Kerio Control has migrated from a Windows-only firewall/VPN/content security server to a well-rounded UTM solution, available now as a full turnkey appliance," said Scott Schreiman, CEO of Kerio Technologies. "This all-in-one gateway security appliance also bundles all of the security technologies available as options in Kerio Control, namely Sophos Anti-Virus for email gateway security and Kerio Web Filter for content security, making it the most secure configuration of the product with straightforward pricing."

With Kerio Control 7.1, every aspect of the UTM solution can be easily configured with just a web browser. Advanced drag and drop capabilities for interface configuration, contextual help, and a configuration assistant make the setup very easy for a seasoned IT security manager.

Kerio Control 7.1 even warns against any setting that would cause a loss of connectivity to the Web Administration, a critical feature for remotely managed networks.

Virtual Machine support has been expanded to include Parallels, the only cross platform hypervisor server for Apple systems. Now administrators who favor Mac servers can add complete UTM security to their network when using Parallels to get the most of their hardware.

Kerio Control 7.1 software is available immediately with a 30-day unrestricted evaluation period. Visit for more information.

Hardware appliance pricing starts at $1,500 USD for Kerio Control Box 1110, the entry level unit. This includes a 20 user license, with Sophos A/V and Kerio Web Filter. Additional users are $37.00 each, sold in 5 user add-on packs. For larger, more demanding environments, Kerio offers a 1U rack appliance Kerio Control Box 3110 that includes a 40-user license and eight 1Gb Ethernet ports. Both versions are available for advance order now in the United States, Canada and the European Union though select partners. Further availability will be announced in 2011.
