Kerio WinRoute Firewall 6.5 Delivers Internet Link Load Balancing for High-Availability

Advanced Network Security Solution Delivers Load Balancing for Increased Internet Speed and Faster Access to Mission-Critical Applications

SAN JOSE, CA--(Marketwire - September 9, 2008) - Kerio Technologies, Inc., a provider of award-winning Internet security and messaging software, today announced the availability of Kerio WinRoute Firewall 6.5, a comprehensive corporate gateway firewall, with new link-load balancing and failover capabilities that allows organizations to optimize Internet performance and increase reliability of business critical applications.

Kerio WinRoute Firewall 6.5 includes a new link load balancer that distributes network traffic between multiple Internet connections, providing high availability and maximum performance to users. Kerio's security solution uses a data flow algorithm to calculate real-time Internet utilization for each link, which allows the firewall to automatically prioritize traffic to less congested Internet lines and maximize the combined capacity. Kerio WinRoute Firewall load balancing also has advanced policy-based routing of Internet traffic that allows assigning dedicated Internet lines to demanding services for specialized applications such as VoIP or other forms of streaming media. An added benefit is that all of the Internet lines are constantly checked for availability and if one fails, all traffic is rerouted to another line thus increasing reliability.

"Kerio has responded to our customer's growing needs by adding load balancing in this release of Kerio WinRoute Firewall," said Luke Walling, President of Walling Data Systems, a Distributor of Kerio. "We are guaranteed maximized uptime and increased performance by leveraging inexpensive Internet links."

"With load balancing, there can be virtually unlimited number of Internet lines with a wide array of connection types and Kerio WinRoute Firewall will seamlessly combine their capacities," said Jan Jezek, product development manager of Security Solutions for Kerio Technologies, Inc. "We have implemented a solution that is very easy to setup and then it automatically decides which routes to use for individual traffic to provide the maximum benefit to users."

Kerio WinRoute Firewall provides gateway anti-virus scanning, web content filtering, VPN & SSL-VPN services, bandwidth throttling, access policy management and extensive network analysis and reporting tools. Kerio WinRoute Firewall's comprehensive administration console allows system administrators to remotely manage Internet access more effectively than web interfaces found in other competitive security offerings. Kerio StaR, an integrated database-driven reporting module, provides administrators with an overview of historical network and user activity as well as access to network traffic and usage patterns. The real-time Internet monitor also reports on individual user traffic, links to websites visited and can restrict casual Internet browsing. When combined with the Orange Web Filter, Kerio StaR analyzes surfing by web content categories. Kerio's WinRoute Firewall solution can be easily integrated with Active Directory, making it easier to install in any Windows network.

Kerio WinRoute Firewall 6.5 is available in 16 languages and newly localized to support 11 languages including German, Italian, French, Dutch, Portuguese, Swedish, Polish, Hungarian, Croatian, Japanese, and Chinese.

Kerio WinRoute Firewall 6.5 and Kerio VPN Client are immediately available on Windows 2000 / XP / 2003/ Vista/ 2008 for 32 or 64 bit processors.
