KeyMe Launches Same Day Key Delivery in NYC

Locked Out? Manhattan Residents Can Now Get Duplicate Keys Delivered Within an Hour

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwired - Nov 20, 2013) - New York startup KeyMe today announced the launch of its same-day key delivery service in Manhattan, offering local residents the most convenient and cost-effective solution to lockouts. The company also has plans to bring key delivery to other cities, coming soon. Available via the KeyMe iOS app, KeyMe's new same-day delivery feature offers two brand new services: an emergency one-hour delivery option geared toward lockout situations, and a three-hour delivery option geared toward convenience as well as businesses such as real estate agencies, building management companies and others.

The KeyMe app gives users a secure, simple way to scan and store a digital copy of their keys in the cloud, offering multiple options for duplicating keys and solving lockouts. In addition to the new same-day delivery option, Manhattan residents can store a digital copy of their key at any of KeyMe's kiosks, located in 7-Elevens across Manhattan as well as Bed Bath & Beyond in Chelsea. They can then make on-the-spot duplicate keys, 24 hours a day without the need for the original, including in the event of a lockout. Additionally, users anywhere in the country can use the KeyMe app to save a digital image of their key and access instructions that any regular locksmith can use to create a duplicate from scratch. Users can also request copies via mail order and receive within 2 - 3 days.

"After seeing such a positive response to our kiosk offering in New York and our mobile app nationwide, we are upping the ante and offering our Manhattan neighbors a same-day key delivery service, which means no more hanging around on your stoop in the rain or paying through the nose just to get into your apartment or office when you get locked out," said Greg Marsh, CEO of KeyMe. "We're kicking off in Manhattan, but this is a service that we will bring to cities across the country very shortly. KeyMe is all about easing the stress of dealing with your keys, wherever you are."

Users can download the app and store as many keys as they like at no cost. Emergency one-hour Manhattan delivery costs $59 for one key, in stark contrast to the average cost of $150 for an emergency lock change. Three-hour delivery costs $20 for one key. Additional keys are $3 each. Delivery is available anywhere south of 125th Street in Manhattan, from 10 am to 9 pm Monday through Saturday.

KeyMe ensures maximum safety and security, using the most advanced level of encryption, password protection, email alerts for all account activity and several other measures. KeyMe does not store any address information, except temporarily while fulfilling mail orders and deliveries, after which all address information is permanently deleted.

Version 2.0 of the KeyMe app also offers support for additional key types, and now includes 85% of all home, office, mail and padlock keys. The mail order option has also been expanded to offer 100 new decorative key designs. KeyMe's decorative key options include KeyMe's signature bottle opener key, mustache design, Hello Kitty design and over 100 other styles.

The KeyMe app is available in the iTunes App Store via key.me/download.
