Kicking For Kids Who Can't to Benefit the Limbs for Life Foundation

WASHINGTON, DC--(Marketwire - August 31, 2007) - Kicking For Kids Who Can't is a fund-raising Washington DC event to benefit the Limbs for Life Foundation, a global nonprofit organization dedicated to providing full prosthetic care for individuals who cannot otherwise afford it and to raising awareness of the challenges facing amputees. The children charity event will be held on The National Mall between 7th and 10th Streets on Sunday, October 7th, 2007 from 1 pm to 4:30 pm.

Children and adults who are interested in making a difference in the life of another child are invited to participate in this fund-raising Washington DC event. Kickers will ask people for donations by sponsoring them to "kick" anything ranging from soccer balls, kick balls, and hackey sacks to dance kicks and martial arts kicks. Any contribution will be accepted to benefit Limbs for Life Children Charity.

Special guests involved with the Washington DC Event include Iraq veteran and triple amputee Bryan Anderson as guest speaker. Gracie Rosenberger, founder of Standing With Hope, a double amputee and professional singer from Nashville, will perform and amputee martial arts expert Ron Mann will return to perform his famous 1000 kicks drill. Also attending for the first time is Harley Jackson, an amputee breakdancer who will show us all how to get moving during a demo with his crew. Additional guests of this children charity event include members of the DC United soccer team.

The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is also getting involved in this landmark children charity benefit by drawing veteran amputees and volunteers from within the VA to the event to participate and educate all people, able-bodied or not. Wayne Miller, a Vietnam veteran and above-knee amputee, will open the Washington DC event with the singing of the National Anthem as well as award the children medals at the closing ceremonies.

Sponsors for this children charity event include Coca Cola, Inc, the DC United soccer team, College Park Industries, Maryland Orthodics and Prosthetics, Fleet Feet, HKS Architects, Champion Martial Arts, DC Kickball, Performance Fitness & Tennis, Oakley Sunglasses, Proforma Promotions and others.
