Meagan's Walk Dinner and Dance Gala is the official "kick off" leading up to Meagan's Walk: Creating a Circle of Hope, a unique event that was inspired by five-year-old Meagan Bebenek who passed away from brain stem glioma, a terminal form of brain cancer, in June 2001. On Mother's Day, May 13, the annual five kilometre walk will kick off at Ontario Place culminating in a giant human hug around The Hospital for Sick Children. The hug is a symbol of love, support, hope and healing for the children who are being treated, their families and everyone involved in their care from the EMS workers who transport them, to the doctors, nurses and all staff, seen and unseen who work tirelessly to save young lives.

Where once hundreds gathered, now there are thousands -- and this year, its sixth, Meagan's Walk will surpass the $1million mark in fundraising for the fight against paediatric brain tumours and its message of hope.
