CHICAGO, IL--(Marketwired - May 29, 2014) - KidSnips, Chicagoland's premier locally owned group of family hair salons, is an ardent supporter of many charities and non-profits. Locks of Love is a public non-profit organization that provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children in the United States and Canada under age 21 suffering from long-term medical hair loss from any diagnosis. All nine KidSnips hair salons support Locks of Love and continually have child, teen, and adult clients proudly coming to their salons to donate their hair to the cause.
Locks of Love meets a unique need for children by using donated hair to create the highest quality of hair prosthetics. Most of the donated hair from KidSnips' salons goes to children who have lost their hair from a medical condition called alopecia areata, which has no known cause or cure. The prostheses provided by Locks of Love help to restore children's self-esteem and confidence, enabling them to face the world and their peers.
KidSnips does more than just support the cause, they offer incentives for clients to donate hair. If a customer donates more than 10 inches of hair, KidSnips will offer that client a free haircut on weekdays. In addition, KidSnips gives clients who do donate their hair a certificate and will mail the hair to Locks of Love.
"KidSnips cares deeply about supporting these types of causes," said Jill Gordon, co-owner of KidSnips, "It's part of our mission to give back to the community, and our company does everything we can to support important initiatives such as Locks of Love. There's no more heartwarming scene than seeing a child donating their just cut hair to another child in need."
KidSnips opened its first salon in 1997. It was founded by two moms who were frustrated by the lack of quality options to get their children's hair cut. They recently launched a newly updated website with important information for parents of children and teens looking to get their hair cut at one of the nine local Chicago area salons. KidSnips prides itself on offering fun, stylish haircuts for clients of all ages by highly trained professionals. In addition, all nine salons offer kids hair products along with the option to purchase toys from a wide variety of selections including even the most hot/hard to find items.
KidSnips is headquartered in Chicago, IL. If you would like more information or to schedule an interview with Jill Gordon, please contact Michael Dylkiewicz at GenEra Strategies, 312-854-0137 or mdylkiewicz@GenEraStrategies.com.
