Kidspace Children's Museum Announces Five New Board Members


PASADENA, CA--(Marketwire - January 24, 2008) - Kidspace Children's Museum, the premier children's museum in Southern California, today announced the appointment of five new members of its board of directors to guide the growth of the three-acre campus.

"As an important regional educational and recreational resource for the people of Southern California, we are pleased to have such a diverse group of community and business leaders join our board," said Gregory D. Johnson, president of Kidspace Children's Museum. "This strong leadership group will help us fulfill our vision of expanding the Museum and its educational offerings and solidify its position as one of the pre-eminent children's museums in the country."

Appointed to the board are William Baribault, Grant L. Cambridge, Gail Ellis, Ph.D., Walter J. Mix III and Steve Olsen.

--  William Baribault has been active in the La Canada and Pasadena
    business and philanthropic communities for 25 years, most recently serving
    as the chief executive officer for Oakwood Enterprises. He is also the
    chairman of Professional Business Bank and is a director or board advisor
    on the boards of Architectural Woodworking Company, M Chemical Company,
    Active Sales, Inc., Chief Executives Organization, M. C. Gill Corporation,
    Verdugo Hills Hospital Foundation, and Flintridge Preparatory School.
    Baribault received his bachelor's degree from Stanford University;
    
--  Grant L. Cambridge is a senior vice president and director of research
    of Capital World Investors, a member of the Capital Group Companies in Los
    Angeles, and a portfolio counselor and investment analyst for the American
    Funds.  He serves on the board of Value Schools, a newly established
    charter school in Los Angeles, and is member of the board for the Coalition
    for At Risk Urban Youths (aka. CARRY), focused on helping the needs of
    inner city foster care children in Los Angeles.  Cambridge also supports My
    Friend's Place, a youth homeless shelter in Los Angeles.  He earned his
    master's in business administration from the Harvard Business School,
    master's from Suffolk University, and bachelor's of science degree from
    Bentley College;
    
--  Dr. Gail Ellis is a registered psychologist at Pasadena City College
    and works in the Office of Psychological Services assisting students with
    disabilities, and assessing for ADHD.  A native of Illinois, Dr. Ellis
    earned her bachelor's degree in political science from Barat College in
    1969 and earned two master's degrees (marriage and family therapy and
    organizational behavior) and a doctorate in psychology from Phillips
    Graduate Institute in 2002 and 2006, respectively.  In between these
    endeavors, she worked as a probate processor in an Illinois bank, raised
    five children, owned her own retail/wholesale design business and
    participated in a variety of philanthropic leadership activities in both
    Illinois and California;
    
--  Walter J. Mix III is a managing director in the Los Angeles office of
    LECG, a leading expert services firm, specializing in domestic and foreign
    bank risk management, strategic planning and financial advisory services.
    Prior to joining Secura, he was commissioner of the California Department
    of Financial Institutions (DFI). Mix worked with financial institutions on
    more than 60 mergers and acquisitions and the formation of 50 de novo
    institutions and was instrumental in the development and passage of
    California's identity theft law and many other laws, including the
    interstate banking and branching law, and cooperative supervisory
    agreements for domestic and foreign banks. A graduate of the University of
    California, he earned a master's degree with a concentration in economics
    and public policy from Rutgers University. Mix serves as chairman of the
    International Bankers Association of California; and
    
--  Steve Olson is a partner in the law firm O'Melveny & Myers LLP's Los
    Angeles office and a member of the Global Enforcement and Criminal Defense
    Practice. He has extensive jury trial experience and regularly represents
    public companies and individuals in criminal and civil investigations and
    prosecutions by government enforcement agencies. He also advises audit
    committees and independent directors of public companies in connection with
    complex and sensitive internal investigations. Prior to joining O'Melveny &
    Myers, Olson served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Major Frauds
    Section of the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Central District of
    California. In that position, he concentrated on prosecuting securities and
    investment fraud cases. He has been named a "Rising Star" and a "Super
    Lawyer" in surveys conducted by Law & Politics Media Inc. and published in
    Los Angeles magazine. He received his law degree from the University of
    Michigan and his bachelor's of arts from Stanford University.
    

Located in Brookside Park, Pasadena, on three acres of gently sloping forested land, Kidspace was built within the three white wooden structures that formerly housed the Fannie Morrison Horticultural Center, constructed originally in 1938. The new Building 4 will host robotics, construction, engineering and health exhibits, plus a music and art studio, a multipurpose theater and an early childhood center.
