King & Spalding Adds Employment Law Team in London

LONDON, ENGLAND--(Marketwired - January 13, 2016) - King & Spalding announced today that Jules Quinn has joined the firm as partner to lead the employment law team in its London office as the firm continues to expand its English law offering. Quinn was previously a partner at Jones Day, where she was head of the labour and employment group in London. Kim Roberts, also formerly of Jones Day, has joined King & Spalding as counsel.

Quinn and Roberts will co-ordinate the European employment practice to meet the needs of the firm's global client base.

Quinn represents global corporations and financial institutions on labour issues, with particular expertise in international project management and advising international clients with global operations. She has acted for companies on matters including acquisitions, mergers, employee transfers and the restructuring of European workforces.

Quinn is also former deputy chair of the Employment Lawyers Association and is a member of the European Employment Lawyers Association and the Human Resources Section of the International Bar Association. She is ranked in the UK and Global guides of Chambers & Partners as well as Legal 500. Her clients include MasterCard, BNP Paribas, Cobham Plc and the Toronto Dominion Group.

Roberts is an experienced employment law practitioner and advises across the full range of employment matters both contentious and non-contentious, including counselling, High-Court and Tribunal matters, executive recruitment and termination, board disputes, competition and restraint of trade matters, employment issues on transactions, data protection issues, downsizing and collective consultation.

"Clients of all our practice groups have an important need for top-tier advice on employment law as well as data privacy issues, especially as clients are having to adopt an increasingly global approach to managing these matters," said Michael Johnston, head of the firm's employment practice. "Jules and Kim, who both have great expertise and international experience, provide a valuable addition to our offering."

Quinn is the fifth partner to join King & Spalding's London office in the past year as the practice continues to expand. In 2015, the firm recruited Stuart Isaacs QC (international disputes from Berwin Leighton Paisner), Daniel Friel (tax from Latham & Watkins), Nick Cherryman (international disputes from Fried Frank Harris Shriver & Jacobson) and Thomas Jones (finance from Allen & Overy).

"Jules is the latest in a line of leading lawyers that we have welcomed to our London office during the past year," said Garry Pegg, Office Managing Partner in London. "In addition to the lateral partners, associate Ruth Byrne was promoted to partner in January 2015 and counsel Sajid Ahmed was promoted to partner in January 2016. These seven partners are an indication of our commitment to the continued development our practice in London."
