King & Spalding Adds Partner Justin Riess to Charlotte Finance Practice

CHARLOTTE, NC--(Marketwire - February 28, 2011) - King & Spalding announced today the arrival of Justin M. Riess to its growing Charlotte office. Riess will serve as a partner in the firm's finance practice and will focus on asset-based, acquisition and working-capital financings.

At King & Spalding, Riess will reunite with former Moore & Van Allen colleagues William H. Fuller III, M. Bryant Gatrell and Ronald S. Lovelace, partners who specialize in advising banks and other lenders in a variety of complex financing transactions. All three joined King & Spalding's Charlotte finance group in November 2010.

"Justin is a superb lawyer and a trusted peer who significantly enhances the capabilities of King & Spalding's global finance practice," said Fuller. "The firm and its clients will benefit greatly from his broad expertise, excellent reputation and strong industry contacts. We are extremely pleased to welcome Justin to our team."

Riess devotes his practice principally to the representation of banks and commercial finance companies in transactional matters. He has extensive experience in the negotiation and documentation of secured and unsecured credit facilities for acquisitions and working-capital purposes with both domestic and foreign borrowers. Before attending law school, Riess worked for a division of Raymond James Financial concentrating in private-asset management.

Riess received a J.D. degree from Vanderbilt University Law School and a B.S. degree from Vanderbilt University. He was a partner at Moore & Van Allen prior to joining King & Spalding.

"I am thrilled to be joining King & Spalding," noted Riess. "With established finance teams in Charlotte, London, New York, San Francisco, Atlanta and in the Middle East, the firm's global footprint provides an ideal platform from which to develop my practice."

King & Spalding opened its Charlotte office in 2007. The office is focused on the banking, pharmaceuticals and biotechnology, healthcare, energy and real estate industries -- each of which has been central to the firm's focused growth worldwide. Lawyers in Charlotte practice in the areas of high-impact litigation; finance; mergers, acquisitions and private equity; capital transactions and real estate; and intellectual property.
