King & Spalding Advises RockTenn in $3.5 Billion Purchase of Smurfit-Stone


NORCROSS, GA--(Marketwire - January 24, 2011) - International law firm King & Spalding advised RockTenn Company in its $3.5 billion acquisition of Smurfit-Stone Container Corporation, creating a $9 billion leader in the North American paperboard packaging market.

The boards of directors of both companies approved a definitive agreement in which Smurfit-Stone Container would become a wholly owned subsidiary of RockTenn. The transaction is expected to close in the second quarter of 2011.
