King & Spalding Continues Global Build-Up of Its Real Estate Practice With Addition of Seven-Lawyer Team in Paris


PARIS--(Marketwire - May 1, 2012) - King & Spalding today announced the addition of a team of seven real estate lawyers from Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer to its Paris office, the latest move in its plan of expansion of real estate and transactional capabilities in Europe.

The team is headed up by partner Benoît Marcilhacy, the former head of Freshfields' Paris real estate group, and partner Pascal Schmitz, and includes Alexandre Couturier as counsel and associates Cyrille Gogny-Goubert, Blandine Hugon-Pagès, Samuel Kujas and Aurélien Néret-Minet. Their arrival brings the number of lawyers in the office, which opened in 2009, to 15, including 5 partners.

Marcilhacy's practice is centered on the acquisitions and sales of structured property folios, sales and leasebacks and the establishment of real estate funds as well as complex development deals. He graduated from the Université Paris II with a master's degree in business and tax law and a Magistère de Juriste d'Affaires.

Schmitz's real estate practice focuses on fund structuring, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, direct asset sales and commercial leases. He received a master's degree in real estate law from Université Paris Parthéon-Sorbonne. He is a member of French chapter of the Urban Land Institute.
