| Source: King & Spalding
WASHINGTON, DC--(Marketwire - April 29, 2009) - Ashley C. Parrish, an experienced appellate
litigator, has joined the litigation and antitrust practice of King &
Spalding as a partner in Washington, D.C. Parrish will work closely with
Neil L. Levy, co-chair of King & Spalding's global energy practice, to
serve the needs of the firm's energy industry clients in a wide range of
administrative and appellate litigation matters.
Paul D. Clement, head of King & Spalding's national appellate practice,
said, "We welcome Ashley to the firm. His abilities as a strategist and
appellate advocate are impressive. He has extensive experience representing
clients in high-stakes litigation and special expertise in handling
administrative appeals before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C.
Circuit. Ashley's experience litigating matters on appeal from the Federal
Energy Regulatory Commission complements the firm's growing energy
practice. And his arrival enhances our ability to provide comprehensive
advice to clients on a broad range of appellate issues."
Before joining King & Spalding, Parrish was a partner at Kirkland & Ellis.
He focuses his practice on appellate litigation and administrative law, on
the preparation of high-risk cases for eventual appeal and on strategic,
complex litigation. He has handled appeals on a wide range of subject
matters in courts across the country, including the U.S. Supreme Court,
almost all of the federal courts of appeals and a variety of state
appellate courts. Parrish received a J.D. degree, with honors, from the
University of Chicago, and B.A. degrees, magna cum laude, in Political
Science and in Economics from the University of Washington. After
graduating from law school, he clerked for the Hon. Emilio M. Garza on the
U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.
Clement, the 43rd Solicitor General of the United States, returned to King
& Spalding in November 2008 to establish an expanded national appellate and
strategic counseling practice. Clement has argued 49 cases before the U.S.
Supreme Court. In March 2009, he brought on board partner Jeffrey S.
Bucholtz, the former Acting Assistant Attorney General and Principal
Deputy Assistant Attorney General for the Civil Division of the U.S.
Department of Justice.
