Kirkland & Ellis LLP Wins Law Technology News "Most Innovative Use of Technology" Award for Use of IntApp Ethical Walls Software

PALO ALTO, CA--(Marketwire - January 31, 2011) - IntApp, Inc., provider of the most-adopted ethical walls software product for law firms, today announced that Kirkland & Ellis LLP, a global law firm with 1,500 lawyers, has won the 2011 Law Technology News award for "Most Innovative Use of Technology in a Law Firm," for deploying IntApp Wall Builder to centrally control access to client confidential matters and track compliance across the firm.

The Law Technology News Awards recognize the achievements of both vendors and law firms, highlighting legal professionals and organizations who have demonstrated innovative and efficient use of technology.

"We're honored to receive this prestigious award, which acknowledges the investment our firm has made to address our professional obligations and meet the needs of our clients with proven confidentiality and risk management technology," said Ann Ostrander, Senior Director of Loss Prevention, Kirkland & Ellis LLP. "We worked closely with IntApp to implement Wall Builder and integrate it into our existing IT infrastructure and business processes, and could not be happier with the quality of product, support and ongoing innovation they've provided."

Wall Builder is a web-based confidentiality management application that enables organizations to centrally control, monitor and report on user access permissions across multiple applications including document management, accounting, portal, CRM, time entry and records management systems. It also automates notifications to individuals subject to specific policies and tracks acknowledgments for compliance purposes.

Kirkland & Ellis deployed IntApp Wall Builder in June 2010, selecting the product after an extensive evaluation of several available options. The firm chose Wall Builder because of the product's broad adoption by the legal industry, maturity and ease-of-use, and ability to integrate with and secure key firm applications including its Autonomy iManage document management, Open Text LegalKEY records management, and Carpe Diem time entry software.

Law firms must closely manage and track internal access to client information for many reasons. These include waiver-driven ethical screens, increasingly stringent client outside counsel guidelines, and compliance with regulations such as the HITECH Act, ITAR and several data privacy laws.

Wall Builder replaces distributed, ad hoc approaches to information security with a centralized system that provides organizations with unprecedented capability and control over user access to specific applications, documents and other information. It's the only product for law firms that delivers real-time enforcement while updating access rights in response to attorney behavior to ensure that policies are kept up to date automatically.

Wall Builder is the most-adopted ethical walls and confidentiality management software by law firms with 150 or more lawyers. According to an independent survey by the International Legal Technology Association (ILTA) of its membership published in October 2010, 74% of large law firms using commercial software to enforce ethical screens to secure access to confidential information use IntApp Wall Builder.

"The recognition by Law Technology News of Kirkland & Ellis for the most innovative use of technology is well-deserved and we're pleased to support their ongoing success," said Pat Archbold, head of IntApp's Risk Practice Group. "The firm has a history of significant investment in risk and confidentiality management, setting an example others continue to emulate."
