Kirusa Launches Voice SMS 3.0 -- Adds Smartphone "Voicing" App to World's #1 Voice SMS Solution

InstaVoice Lets You Speak, Connect and Share With "Voicing," Voice SMS, Voicemail, & Texting

CAPE TOWN, SOUTH AFRICA and NEW YORK, NY and ACCRA, GHANA--(Marketwired - Nov 13, 2013) - Kirusa, the leader in voice and social media solutions for mobile users in emerging markets, announced the launch of Voice SMS 3.0, the third generation of its industry-leading Voice SMS solution. Voice SMS 3.0 is a ground-breaking mobile offering which brings the power of smartphone data services to the Kirusa Voice SMS service already enjoyed by tens of millions of mobile consumers. Voice SMS 3.0 features the InstaVoice app, which combines a subscriber's visual voicemail, visual Voice SMS, missed calls, texting, and "voicing" (voice chatting), all in one easily navigable chat screen.

Voice SMS 3.0 has been launched as an alpha version by Kirusa and its carrier partners in Ghana, including Airtel and Vodafone, using Kirusa's patented platforms deployed on carrier premises and in the cloud. Mobile users in Ghana can download the InstaVoice app for free from the Google Play Store, and experience a striking visual interface which powerfully integrates Voice SMS and chatting for the first time. Subscribers can now send/receive both voice and text messages from one app over their data or voice network.

Ashish Malhotra, Director of Marketing, at Airtel Ghana, states, "InstaVoice makes it so easy to send and listen to voice messaging that we believe it is going to create a culture of 'voicing' in Ghana. You can receive a missed call from a friend, and send them a voice message, literally with a single key press."

The InstaVoice app included in Voice SMS 3.0 goes far beyond what any of the mobile messaging apps currently in the market can do. The app allows subscribers to review and respond to their voice mail, Voice SMS, voice chats, and texts, from one simple and beautiful screen. Furthermore, because the data and telephony architecture is integrated, chatting is also possible with mobile users who do not have smartphones. By simply holding down the microphone button in the app, an InstaVoice user can record and send a short voice message to anyone in the world who can receive an SMS. InstaVoice also enables users to record their voice or text notes and share them instantly with other users on social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, and Vobolo.

Uche Ofidile, CMO, of Vodafone Ghana, states, "Vodafone Ghana teamed up with Kirusa some 17 months ago to bring innovative services to customers. Kirusa has, on a regular basis, launched improved services. With the new innovations in Voice SMS 3.0, customers will be able to record and share voice notes with the InstaVoice app. Customers can also keep track of their incoming and outgoing Voice SMS (including voicemail) and send instant messages to their contacts. They can also connect to Facebook & Twitter and post comments or voice notes. InstaVoice will help customers connect emotionally with their friends and family by directly using their voices in messages. Vodafone Ghana is happy to be a part of the launch of InstaVoice -- another industry first."

Carriers interested in Voice SMS 3.0 are invited to see a demo at Kirusa's booth P45 at AfricaCom, in Cape Town, from November 12-14, and can contact Kirusa's sales team to have it deployed and launched in their network within weeks.

Inderpal Singh Mumick, CEO, Kirusa, shared his vision for communicating in a hyper-social smartphone world. "Smartphone apps must bridge the world of data and telephony. Kirusa's offering provides this bridge. We are delighted to introduce an extraordinary app that makes 'voicing' as easy as texting to anyone in the world, while bringing all your Voice SMS, voicemail, and missed calls together into the chatting experience. We are passionate about pushing voicing to greater heights, and Voice SMS 3.0 takes all users along as we go there."

Further, he added, "Working with our carrier partners who share our vision for communications and social media in the mobile world, and consistent with our commitment to Africa, we are delighted to bring Voice SMS 3.0 to Ghana first. We plan to roll out the Voice SMS 3.0 solution across Africa with our partners, and globally, building on feedback from our initial rollout."
