Kleer 'Cuts Loose' With Disruptive Wireless Technology for Universal Stereo Audio Applications

Revolutionary low-power radio architecture delivers uncompressed stereo audio with 10 times the battery life of Bluetooth

CUPERTINO, CALIFORNIA--(CCNMatthews - Dec. 4, 2006) - Kleer (www.kleer.com) today announced the launch of its Kleer Audio LP line of RF wireless modules - the industry's first such offering to combine high quality audio, low power consumption and robust ISM band coexistence, to address the full range of audio market segments.

Unlike Bluetooth, Kleer's patented subsampling radio architecture was designed from the ground up to communicate lossless CD-quality digital stereo audio over a robust 2.4GHz radio link, while achieving 10 times the battery life of a comparable Bluetooth solution. As a result, Kleer's technology is the first on the market to enable the manufacture of small form factor battery-powered products, such as wireless earphones, that can be used with home and automotive audio/video systems, as well as with portable audio/media players.

Kleer's Audio LP technology is ideal for consumer electronics OEMs that want to develop interoperable wireless audio products for the portable, home and automotive audio markets. Applications include, but are not limited to, portable audio/media players, iPod® and other player accessories, home audio/theater systems, earphones, headphones, and speakers. "We recognize the importance our OEM customers place on developing an audio ecosystem," says Levent Gun, President and CEO of Kleer. "Products based on the Kleer technology are fully interoperable to create a more compelling market for all manufacturers that utilize our technology."

"In the Pro audio world the highest compliment a wireless product can receive is that it sounds like it is a cable," says Jerry Harvey, Founder and Chief Technical Officer, Ultimate Ears, LLC. "The Kleer link is exactly that; it sounds like it is a hardwired earphone. Kleer has the best RF audio quality that I have heard to date."

The first product in the Kleer Audio LP line is the KLR3012 module that integrates Kleer's mixed signal RFIC with RF passives such that little RF design expertise is required to implement a product. Kleer's embedded software also offers complete and configurable functionality enabling the implementation of products with little or no software development.

Key Advantages Over Bluetooth Technology

Bluetooth offerings suffer from poor audio quality due to the use of lossy audio compression, poor ISM band coexistence performance in high interference environments, and high power consumption when carrying streaming audio. In contrast, Kleer's Audio LP modules offer the following advantages over Bluetooth:

- Lossless transmission of 16-bit, 44.1KHz-sampled stereo audio to deliver full CD-quality audio. Lossless transmission also enables the 'beaming' of music or other data files from one player to another.

- 10 times the battery life of a comparable Bluetooth solution. This enables OEMs to integrate wireless technology into portable audio players without suffering a large penalty in battery life. And OEMs can introduce new small form factor products such as wireless earphones knowing that small batteries will still give them acceptable battery life.

- Best-in-class ISM band co-existence by dynamically selecting one out of 16 narrowband channels, each of which can fit in the gaps between wireless LAN channels, and ensuring that only unoccupied channels are selected.

- Kleer's Listen In™ technology that enables users to share the listening experience by having multiple wireless earphones, headphones or speakers listening simultaneously to the same audio source.

"Kleer's sound quality is unmatched among consumer wireless technologies," states Med Dyer, Director of Engineering, MWM Mobile Products, LLC. "That sound quality, combined with the low power demands and small PCB requirements, enables the design of great mobile stereo devices."

Kleer's Audio LP line will be exhibited at CES 2007, at the Sands Convention Center, booth #IP209.
