KMG International, Inc.: Experts Give Joint Pain Sufferers Hope in Light of Tylenol Scare

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(CCNMatthews - Aug. 18, 2005) - While millions of Americans who suffer joint pain groan at the next dose of bad news about the dangers of arthritis medicine like Bextra, Vioxx and now Tylenol, those who promote healthy alternatives to these pharmaceuticals are speaking out and giving hope.

As leading experts in the field of natural health, nutrition scientist Dr. Shari Lieberman and nutritionist Carol Simontacchi, offer consumers timely advice on lifestyle, diet and safe substitutes for Tylenol and other painkillers in light of the recent findings.

"Every time a new study comes out showing how risky these drugs really are, people who rely on them become desperate and don't know where to turn for relief," says Dr. Lieberman, author of 7 books on nutrition and a contributing editor to the American Medical Associations' 5th Edition of Drug Evaluations. "I explain there are many safe and effective alternatives."

Lieberman's soon-to-be released next book specifically addresses those approaches.

Just this spring, Carol Simontacchi wrote "Natural Alternatives to Vioxx, Celebrex, and other Anti-Inflammatory Prescription Drugs." The book was released a week before the Bextra recall.

"The timing couldn't have been better," Simontacchi says. "everybody wanted answers."

Even as Simontacchi's book got a major boost from the Vioxx and Bextra recalls, so did pharmaceutical substitutes like Tylenol, who stepped up advertising to temporarily fill the void left by the prescription drugs.

"I anticipate a whole new wave of interest in my book in light of today's bad news about Tylenol," Simontacchi says. "Tylenol took unfair advantage of the bad news and held themselves up as a safe substitute. In the end, the truth caught up with them."

Simontacchi says her recommendations offer a healthy answer to joint pain. "No one should have to risk death or disease to get joint pain relief," she says, "especially when there are safe, natural, effective and inexpensive alternatives."
