Kneehab® XP Secures Pre-Market Certification in Japan

MINNETONKA, MN--(Marketwired - Sep 12, 2013) - The Kneehab XP Quadriceps Therapy System, manufactured by Neurotech, has received pre-market certification from SGS Japan, Inc. This certification enables the Kneehab to be provided to the Japanese market through Neurotech's Japanese distribution partner, Shilac Japan, Inc. The device will make its debut at the Japanese Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine conference to be held in Nagoya, September 13 - 14, 2013.

"We are delighted to be able to provide the Kneehab to orthopaedic surgeons based in Japan," said Robert Mosedale, International Business Development Director for Neurotech. "Shilac Japan's strong network of dealers throughout the country means that Kneehab can play the same critical role in quadriceps rehabilitation that it plays now in North America and Europe."

Shilac Japan, Inc. is a division of Shilac Enterprises, headquartered in Torrance, CA. Shilac's Japanese offices were founded in 1994. The company has since grown to comprise multiple offices and a network of over 450 dealers throughout Japan. Shilac has great institutional knowledge in the orthopaedic space, having distribution agreements in place with Breg and Medical Specialties.

For the Japanese market, the Kneehab has received Class II, controlled medical device, designation. The Kneehab features a controller and conductive garment that combine together to deliver Multipath, a patented form of Neuromuscular Electrical Stimulation (NMES). Published research has shown that Kneehab restores quadriceps strength and function significantly faster than physical therapy or standard NMES in patients having undergone ACL reconstruction. The Kneehab also has applicability in pre- and post-total knee replacement and patellofemoral joint pain settings, along with other knee etiologies.
