Koding Launches Complete Cloud Developer Platform, Invites Developers to Get to Work

Public Version Now Available Offering a Full Development Stack -- Using Only a Web Browser

SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwire - Apr 4, 2012) - Koding, a cloud development environment and collaboration platform, emerged from private beta today, allowing developers worldwide to request a login to begin coding in an entirely new way. The company offers a free server to every user, access to an informative community of developers, and a platform to see a project through from beginning to end. By offering a slew of programming languages and removing the set-up hassles, Koding makes it possible for developers to begin coding today, using any computer with a modern browser. Developers can now go to and request an invite to get to work.

Software development is not as simple as learning a programming language and creating a new application or service. In most cases, developers begin coding only after hours or days of setting up local environments, being added as a user to multiple systems and then spending days if not weeks learning the system they're going to be working on. Koding's approach reduces this setup time down to minutes, taking care of the back-end quickly so that developers can do what they do best, right from the start.

"Software development is a pain," said Devrim Yasar, CEO and co-founder of Koding. "We are working to change that by eliminating barriers and putting everything a developer needs in one place. Our goal is to see people spending their time creating cool things, not installing back-end programs and wasting their time and money setting them up."

Koding gets developers to work fast, offering everyone a free development environment and the tools to work in it. The cloud service includes a Linux development server that runs a myriad of languages to code in such as Ruby, Python, PHP, Perl, and node.js, along with a community rich with education and networking opportunities. Koding's 40,000 beta users have connected over this community platform to share ideas, ask questions and find credible developers to work with.

Today's public launch of Koding follows on the heels of Koding's $2 million Series A funding announcement, which was led by RTP Ventures and Greycroft Partners.
