Kony Expands Marketing Function to Accelerate Growth and Maintain Leadership in the Market

Adding Marketing Veteran Peter Buscemi to Kony's Management Team, Kony Continues Its Rapid Expansion

ORLANDO, FL--(Marketwire - Jul 13, 2011) - Kony, the leading mobile application platform provider, announced Peter Buscemi has joined the company to lead marketing globally. Following another fiscal year of successfully selling the leading mobile application platform and assembling world-class sales, services and support organizations, the company is expanding marketing to propel the Kony "Empowering Everywhere" brand to deliver the product and brand experiences customers demand worldwide.

Buscemi, a results-oriented senior marketing leader for nearly 30 years, has both classic and progressive sales and marketing experience with Fortune 1000 companies, including HP, Apple, Oracle, Business Objects, Actuate, early stage, turnarounds and late stage privately held companies, such as Aperture. Peter has an exceptional ability to build brands, align sales and marketing and enter and dominate industries by aggressively acquiring and retaining customers. In this function at Kony, Buscemi is responsible for the strategy and execution of initiatives that drive awareness and demand for the company's products and technology.

"Kony's offering is extremely unique in the mobile space. No other company has such a robust platform and vertical applications across the spectrum of industries for consumers and employees," said Peter Buscemi, vice president of marketing, Kony. "Part of the challenge will be to educate the market as brands develop their mobile strategy. There is also the opportunity to connect with organizations that have embarked on a mobile initiative that has not yielded the desired results and has forced a restart."

2010 was a landmark year for Kony. In addition to growing revenue by 10x and becoming the mobile application platform vendor of choice for more than 45 Fortune 500 companies, the company received $19.1 million in Series A funding from Insight Venture Partners. The investment symbolized a vote of confidence in Kony's technology and founding principles and enabled further expansion into new markets.

In 2011 Kony has been named a Gartner Cool Vendor, a 'Most Innovative Company of the Year' by the American Business Awards and was chosen as one of Fast Company's 100 innovative Apple-affiliated achievers. Kony was also positioned as a "Visionary" in the Gartner Magic Quadrant for Mobile Consumer Application Platforms (MCAP) report by William Clark, Michael J. King and Linda Dozier.1 The company has updated its corporate identity and launched a new website (www.kony.com) that communicates the depth and breadth of its platform and vertical applications by industry.

"As we continue to extend our capabilities and customer base, we must invest in the marketing function as we have in development and sales to maintain our competitive advantage. This will allow us to manage the exponential growth in the market," explained Raj Koneru, Kony CEO. "Peter has extensive marketing experience and an impressive track record of success. We are privileged to have him at the helm of our marketing operation. He will enable us to share our deep expertise with a broader set of customers, partners and prospects, as well as the industry at large."
