Kryos Velocity AppXtender for IBM Lotus Domino Offers Point and Click Simplicity for Creating Apps for BlackBerry Smartphones

Merging IBM Lotus Domino applications with the BlackBerry smartphone with no need for specialized development skills

CALGARY, ALBERTA--(Marketwire - Feb. 2, 2011) - Kryos Systems Ltd., an IBM® Premier Partner and BlackBerry® Alliance Member, has long sought ways to make the creation and launch of smartphone apps easier for corporations. The company's innovative Velocity solution has helped bridge the gap between enterprise software and the mobile world, and their most recent innovation is set to greatly broaden the range of companies that can increase their efficiency with BlackBerry® smartphone applications. Kryos brings over fifteen years of Lotus experience to the mobile community with the launch of their new Velocity AppXtender for IBM® Lotus® Domino® product. It allows organizations without specialized development skills to create mobile applications that use a wide range of BlackBerry smartphone features and functionality. Lotus Professionals can use the software to extend Lotus Notes and Lotus Domino applications into the hands of people working remotely or on the road. The apps created feature fully customizable styles, graphics and layouts, yet are created using guided forms and fields within Lotus Notes, instead of programming languages. Changes are immediate and can be previewed instantly on any BlackBerry smartphone. Kryos created the software with built-in templates already familiar to the Lotus community: Document Library, Discussion, and Address Book.

"Our long history in both the Lotus and BlackBerry communities highlighted an opportunity to build technology that serviced the unique needs of the Lotus Professional, while also allowing developers to quickly build applications for BlackBerry smartphones that integrate "Super App" characteristics, like phone, SMS, and email integration. We're very excited to announce this product and to continue progressing the mobile development industry," said Trevor Nimegeers, President and CEO of Kryos the parent company of Velocity.

Velocity AppXtender for IBM Lotus Domino handles the translation between existing Lotus Domino databases' design and the BlackBerry smartphones, allowing businesses to connect the two using in-house resources – the very same people that typically manage that data.

John Wargo is a professional application developer and BlackBerry expert that was enlisted as a beta tester for the Velocity AppXtender solution,

"What's been great about the beta testing I've done with the Velocity AppXtender software is the welcome familiarity of working within Lotus Notes. Lotus Administrators and Developers will feel really comfortable with the way it all looks and works. Plus, every time I came up with something I wanted to do in Velocity AppXtender, I looked around and found it was already there. Software like this makes it cost efficient for companies running Lotus applications to build mobile apps quickly and get more out of their investments."

Considering the importance of internal security and privacy settings, Kryos designed Velocity AppXtender to automatically keep the existing Domino security settings in the mobile application. A low one-time licensing fee, with no device fees, means that the use of mobile applications can scale as a company grows.

The benefit to enterprise businesses is significant. Corporations can easily create remote access to valuable back-office data and programs that are run on the Lotus Domino platform. Traditionally this would require a team of specialized programmers significant time and money to accomplish the task.
