Kwik Fit Staff Take Calls Worth GBP 120K for Comic Relief

LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM--(Marketwire - March 30, 2011) - Kwik-Fit Insurance, one of the UK's leading car insurance intermediaries, joined Comic Relief's fundraising efforts on Red Nose Day by turning over its call centre to field thousands of phone donations from the public on Friday night.

More than 130 employees volunteered along with family and friends for the night shift at the company's Uddingston headquarters answering a staggering 3,780 calls between 7pm and midnight, with donations reaching over £120,000 for Comic Relief.

All manner of donations were taken on the night, including one generous caller who donated £2,000, while several others gave donations in excess of £500.

Kwik-Fit Insurance managing director, June Lynch, took part in the event herself, answering calls and taking donations from the big-hearted public.

She said: "This is the fifth year we've signed up to be one of Comic Relief's call centres and it's a great way for our people and their family and friends to get involved in one of the biggest fundraising nights of the year.

There was a real party atmosphere in our centre on Friday night and it was great fun talking to people from all corners of the UK who were getting in the Red Nose Day spirit. The fact that we took in a record amount of donations is testament to both the generosity of the British public and the hard work of our people. The next Comic Relief can't come quickly enough!"

Kwik-Fit Insurance's volunteers were helped through the marathon shift with donations from local suppliers which included sandwiches supplied by caterers Baxter Storey, pizzas from Dominos Pizza, soft drinks from Irn-Bru makers Barrs, chocolates from Thorntons and cake from Costco.

Issued by The BIG Partnership on behalf of Kwik-Fit Insurance.
