L-3 Communications Selects InterSense for Additional Orders With Air Force, Air National Guard and U.S. Navy

InterSense's Reliable, Precise and Customizable IS-900 Motion Tracking Systems Are Ideally Suited for Military Simulators

BEDFORD, MA and COLOGNE, GERMANY -- (MARKET WIRE) -- April 23, 2007 -- ITEC 2007 (Booth # 140) -- April 23, 2007: InterSense, Inc., a market leader in precision motion technology for flight simulation and training, has been awarded multiple new contracts by L-3 Communications' (NYSE: LLL) Link Simulation and Training (L-3 Link) division, a leading systems integrator that supplies advanced simulation systems and training services for both U.S. and international military services. Selected due to its capability to provide continuous tracking throughout fast motions, InterSense will deliver its hybrid IS-900 inertial-acoustic helmet tracking systems to support various L-3 Link flight simulator programs, including the U.S. Air Force and Air National Guard F-16 Aircrew Training Device (ATD) Program and the U.S. Navy's programs for F/A-18 C through F model trainers.

The F-16 ATD program is used to train Air Force and Air National Guard pilots, and supports the service's individual squadron, new student, initial, transition and continuation training. InterSense's IS-900 tracking system will be seamlessly integrated into the base of L-3 Link's SimuSphere™ display, which provides front line training squadrons with 360° field-of-view visual displays.

Each U.S. Navy F/A-18 system is a high fidelity, networked trainer that enables pilots to train within a highly realistic, simulated environment. The flexibility of the IS-900 configuration in L-3 Link's SimuSphere flight cockpit environment eliminates the need for an overhead acoustic referencing structure, thus allowing complete 360° pilot vision required by the program. This integrated solution ensures that the simulator will provide a true to life training session for the pilot without the artifacts of negative training.

"The key to achieving military success lies in the ability to conduct realistic, real-time training and mission rehearsals for both individuals and collective teams," states Mike Donfrancesco, vice president of sales, InterSense. "Our motion tracking technology coupled with Link's state-of-the-art training systems offer the military an advanced training, simulation and situational awareness experience that is both highly precise and extremely reliable."

Introduced in 1999, InterSense's IS-900 product family, based on patented Constellation™ technology, delivers extremely precise and accurate wide area, interference free head, hand and object tracking for the most demanding immersive 3D applications. From CAVEs™ and PowerWalls™ to rooms, buildings and simulators, the IS-900 product line offers precision motion tracking solutions.
