The L.A. County Fair Entertains and Educates With More Than 200 Acres of Interactive Exhibits

POMONA, CA--(Marketwire - Sep 22, 2011) - With exciting exhibits, entertainment, concerts and rides, the L.A. County Fair brings pure fun and a wide variety of educational experiences. With museum settings, animals in every exhibit, hands-on learning areas and interactive shows and displays, visitors can learn everything from how to milk a goat to the properties of physics and about endangered species.

At FairView Farms, Angelenos can discover where milk comes from, learn about the pasteurization process and try their hand at milking a cow or goat. They can then take their farming skills even further and learn how to make hay bales, ice cream, butter, cottage cheese and cream cheese. In Zuckerman's Nursery, kids can learn all about baby animals and different breeds of traditional livestock that spend their days on a farm.

Visit the Flower and Garden Pavilion to learn about our nation's 58 protected National Parks and animals that live in them. Then continue on to Wilderness Ridge to get up close to our Brown Bears and discover why these furry friends are endangered and what you can do to protect them. You can even meet the most famous bear in America -- Smokey Bear -- and his friends from the USDA Forest Service in America's Great Outdoors.

Explore the history of California in Heritage Square and pan for gold, participate in rug and doll making, learn how to make soap, watch a real blacksmith at work, and even learn how to make brooms from the creator of Harry Potter's Nimbus 2000.

With the need to support Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education, kids can become "Surrounded by Science" at the L.A. County Fair and discover Physics, Optics, Forensics, Biology and Chemistry at the Bubbling Beaker Stage and through the many labs set-up with interactive experiments. Guests can even go under the skin and teach about human anatomy in a unique museum display "Our Body: Live Healthy" featuring real human specimens that highlight the importance of a healthy lifestyle.

The L.A. County Fair partners with communities and schools all season long for continued educational outreach. The L.A. County Fair runs through Oct. 2 and is closed Mondays and Tuesdays.
