SAINTE-ANNE-DES-MONTS, QUEBEC--(Marketwired - Dec. 16, 2016) - Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions (CED)
Key local stakeholders have long been asking for concrete, sustainable measures to improve community and recreational infrastructure. The Government of Canada is proud to invest in five projects by the Haute-Gaspésie and La Côte-de-Gaspé RCMs, which contribute to the region's economy.
Acting on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for CED, the Honourable Diane Lebouthillier, Member of Parliament for Gaspésie-Les Îles-de-la-Madeleine and Minister of National Revenue, announced that five projects in the region will be sharing financial contributions totalling $792,165.
The financial assistance, awarded under the Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program (CIP150) and the Quebec Economic Development Program (QEDP), will help increase the strength and vitality of the region. The funding has been granted to the Auberge Château Lamontagne, the Chevaliers de Colomb du Conseil de St-Joachim-de-Tourelle, the town of Cap-Chat, the town of Murdochville and Saint-Maxime-de-Mont-Louis' (Gros-Morne) Maison L'Essentielle.
"By investing in our communities, we are clearly showing that we are committed to fostering sustainable growth and prosperity in Canada. By upgrading community facilities in the Haute-Gaspésie and La Côte-de-Gaspé RCMs, we are helping stimulate the vitality of our communities and ensure a higher quality of life for residents of all ages."
- The Honourable Diane Lebouthillier, Member of Parliament for Gaspésie-Les Îles-de-la-Madeleine and Minister of National Revenue
"The Government of Canada supports the projects of organizations that mobilize and unite our communities, but also, in general, that stimulate economic activity in the country.
