DOLBEAU-MISTASSINI, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - March 15, 2013) - The Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, today announced that La Route des mille et une histoires Inc. has been granted funding for the production of its stage shows.
"As this support for the development of La Route des mille et une histoires illustrates, the Government of Canada encourages projects that help diversify the economy of Quebec's regions, in this case through tourism development," said Minister Lebel.
La Route des mille et une histoires Inc. is a non-profit organization that has created a stage show in which history, humour and fantasy come together to introduce the population and tourists to the rich history of the Maria-Chapdelaine RCM. This production is part of a series of activities being held this year to mark the 175th anniversary of the Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean region.
"Our government remains focused on four priorities, as outlined by the Prime Minister, that Canadian care most about: their families, the safety of our streets and communities, their pride in being a citizen of this country, and, of course, their personal financial security," Minister Lebel concluded.
This support from the Government of Canada, granted in the form of a $166,500 non-repayable financial contribution, will enable La Route des mille et une histoires Inc. to purchase and build stage equipment that will raise the quality, and thus the reputation, of its productions. This funding has been awarded through Canada Economic Development's Quebec Economic Development Program.
