La Senza Celebrates Fifteen Years, 70 Million Bras & 120 Million Panties Sold! From Montreal to Moncton to Manchester

MONTREAL, QUEBEC--(CCNMatthews - Sept. 14, 2005) - One out of every three Canadian women wears La Senza. Fifteen years ago, this astonishing fact would have surprised the panties off anyone. Never could La Senza have imagined the scale of success to come when its doors first opened in a quiet Ottawa suburb. Boom or Bust

By the end of its first year, La Senza had expanded with four new stores and even more on the horizon. As business flourished, the lingerie stores boomed across the country, covering both retail square footage and the busts of Canadian women nationwide. Today, La Senza now operates 295 stores in Canada, for a grand total of over 500 stores worldwide in 25 countries!

Beyond Borders

Commanding 37 percent of the domestic market (age 15-29) for lingerie, sleepwear and accessories, La Senza has become the largest international retailer of intimate apparel. Countries such as, Poland, Denmark, India, Morocco, South Africa, United Kingdom, Venezuela, China and Australia, are all proud to boast La Senza stores. La Senza's international scope is further broadened thanks to its e-commerce website. Launched in 1999, ships worldwide and is one of Canada's leading online retailers.

Raising the Bra

In its first year of business, La Senza sold just 5,000 bras and 20,000 panties. Today, those numbers have increased exponentially. "In the past 15 years La Senza has sold over 70 million bras worldwide and over 120 million panties," adds Lewin, "a testament that La Senza has got everyone covered!"

Underneath it All

La Senza has more to celebrate than just its 15th Anniversary; the growth and demand for the brand has lead to the diversification of the product line. This year La Senza proudly unveiled four new sub-brands: La Senza Candy, Love La Senza, LS Uomo, and La Senza Spirit. Although new brands and international locations are major contributions, La Senza attributes its success to its roots: a loyal team.
