L.A. Technology Firm Barebones Networking Allows You to Use Outlook to Send Text Messages

As Simple as Sending an Email to Anyone in Your Contacts, No Need for Mobile Device

LOS ANGELES, CA--(Marketwire - Nov 29, 2011) - Los Angeles-based Barebones Networking (http://www.barebonesnetworking.com) has implemented a new service that allows users to SMS text message right from their desktop. The unique platform uses Microsoft's Outlook email application, coupled with the Google Voice service to send text messages directly to those listed in the user's contacts. There is no need to use your mobile device anymore, simply type a message similar to any email.

Users can now use all of their existing Outlook contacts to use an application that allows SMS text messages to be sent through Microsoft Outlook. Barebones has developed a platform which utilizes Google Voice's free SMS service, and the user is able to send free text messages to your contact's cell phone numbers directly from Outlook.

"This is really the world's first program to allow a user to text or SMS message from not only their desktop, but they can utilize their existing Outlook contacts," said Bones Ijeoma of Barebones Networking. "There are similar services that exist, but ours is unique because of the integration and implementation of Google Voice and we do not charge you per text message sent or received."

To get started, the user does need a Google Voice Login (Gmail) and Outlook 2007 or newer. The user then simply inputs their ID and follows the instructions in Outlook to set up the SMS Service. The service was developed to help users manage their contacts, correspondence, and appointments while eliminating the need to use two separate mediums.

"We live in a world where communication is king, sending e-mail messages has revolutionized how people communicate and interact," said Bones Ijeoma. "SMS text messaging is growing in popularity by the day, and mobile mediums have become an essential way to communicate."
