LAbite Thrives Amid Competitor Buyouts

As Restaurants on the Run Sells to Grub Hub, LAbite Defines Southern California Food Delivery

LOS ANGELES, CA--(Marketwired - February 23, 2015) - LAbite, the leader in Southern California restaurant delivery, is now the dominant authority in the SoCal Restaurant Delivery market. After a week of acquisition announcements from GrubHub and Eat24, LAbite has remained concentrated on their own rapid growth. Having navigated and led the conversations around food delivery in Los Angeles county since 2001, LAbite has dramatically increased its reach in recent years.

Serving the Southland from Santa Clarita to Mission Viejo, and Ventura to Palm, LAbite has been quietly, but rapidly expanding. "We've never been the little guy, but we've always been the local one," says Ken Fischer, President of LAbite. "Our service was designed to meet the needs of the Southern California lifestyle. Traffic, diverse industries and cultural tastes have all played a large role in making SoCal a unique market. We've spent the past 15 years pioneering that space and tailoring both our service and technology to meet those intrinsic needs."

Those needs have helped LAbite to grow 40% year-over-year, processing over $40 million in total sales in 2014 alone. In Orange County, LAbite has seen a 120% growth, which included an expansion into South Orange County in 2013. Growth was fueled in part by its strategic partnership with The Irvine Company: branded as Spectrum Dining Express, an exclusive delivery service for Irvine Company's portfolio of properties. Thanks to the continued growth, LAbite spent the end of 2014 moving their locally based call center from a 4,000 square foot office in Downtown Culver City to a modernized 11,000 square foot facility in the neighborhood of Del Rey.

Known deeply in local communities for their events outreach and prizing direct customer contact over automated service, LAbite has built its name on being accessible and offering personalized attention that customers depend on. "There's more to service driven business than dominating a space," said Fischer. "We know our customers and we take their feedback very seriously. We've concentrated on building a service that enhances the efficiency of business meals, while continuing to focus on raising the convenience of ordering meals at home. Our new Cafeteria service fills that gap between ordering the food people want and having it arrive at a time they can count on."

Fischer is referring to the launch of LAbite's new ordering platform, The Cafeteria, which rolled out in limited test markets at the end of 2014. The Cafeteria by LAbite makes office meals easy and adds tangible value to work environments. LAbite creates unique URLs for companies that want designated delivery times from pre-set restaurants for their employees to choose from every day. This eliminates the need for order minimums, collecting cash and special requests from co-workers since each person places their own order.

In addition to office clientele, many of LAbite's customers are busy families and entrepreneurs on-the-go, who are both looking for reliable meal delivery with variety. LAbite knew predictability was especially important to this demographic and introduced their Order Tracker feature for both desktop and mobile. "We were first to market with online order tracking, and feedback told us it was a big win for the customer," said Fischer. "It put the power back in their hands to manage their time and plan for meals more accurately." Order tracker allows customers to watch their food on the move. From the pickup of their order, to delivery at their front door, customers can watch the entire process online.

With a large and loyal local following, LAbite has positioned itself as the authority on Southern California meal delivery. Holding both service and a vetted knowledge of the region as their standard, LAbite is poised to remain the leader of their domain.

Since 2001, LAbite has connected Southern California to reliable restaurant delivery with over 1,600 restaurant partners and a fleet of independent, local drivers. Whether you're ordering for one or 100, LAbite takes meal planning off your plate so there's more room to enjoy the food.
