Lady Patricia, the Right Honourable the Countess Mountbatten of Burma, was appointed colonel-in-chief of the Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry in 1974. For more than 30 years, she demonstrated an outstanding level of dedication and commitment to the Regiment and to the Canadian Forces. She made countless visits to soldiers in garrisons across the country and in the field, including visits to battalions serving on overseas operations in Germany, Cyprus, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia and Kosovo. As colonel-in-chief, she served as an important role model and actively promoted the Regiment. Lady Patricia's continued support has been an invaluable inspiration to the soldiers and their families and has brought great credit to the Canadian Forces and to Canada.
