Laguna Beach Plastic Surgeon Daniel C. Mills, MD Assumes Role as President of ASAPS

Board-Certified Physicians of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) Have Elected Dr. Daniel C. Mills to be President of the Prestigious Medical Organization

LAGUNA BEACH, CA--(Marketwired - Apr 26, 2016) - Orange County plastic surgeon Daniel C. Mills, MD has been voted the new President of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) -- a distinguished organization representing more than 2,600 board-certified plastic surgeons in the United States, Canada, and several other countries. His term will run from April 2016 to April 2017, concluding at The Aesthetic Meeting 2017 in San Diego. Prior to this esteemed designation, Dr. Mills previously served as Secretary, Treasurer, Vice President, and President-Elect of ASAPS.

"It is an incredible honor, privilege, and responsibility to represent fellow board-certified plastic surgeons who do the preponderance of their work in aesthetic surgery and cosmetics," states Dr. Mills about his new role. "ASAPS' purpose is to help plastic surgeons self-actualize and continually become better aesthetic physicians for the overall safety and outcomes of their patients. We are constantly at the forefront trying to advocate for patient safety and physician education to endeavor for the best patient results and best patient safety that anyone could have through experience, education, and ethics. It is a huge responsibility to foster the direction our organization is headed, and I am proud to take on this responsibility to help improve the level of cosmetic care patients receive both in the U.S. and internationally."

Regarding goals he has for the year-long term, Dr. Mills notes that he plans to continue to remain heavily involved in championing for state and local regulations that help ensure the only practitioners performing aesthetic procedures are those who are extensively educated and well-qualified. This includes planning a course as to who utilizes certain equipment and treatments, as well as how these techniques and technologies are marketed to both doctors and patients.

In addition to these initiatives, Dr. Mills says he aims to create a centralized system that can be used to evaluate patient outcomes based on the specific treatment performed and surgical method employed. "My hope is that this will show there are many intricacies of each procedure that could ultimately affect the patient's overall results as well as their safety along the way, and by looking at what was exactly done during each procedure via electronic medical records and data points, we can potentially determine which surgical methods are better for patients in the long run."

Ultimately, Dr. Mills expresses his gratitude for being elected President of ASAPS, and he expounds on how he feels his position will better both himself and his practice: "Not only does being President of ASAPS keep me on the most innovative and advanced edge of our specialty, but having industry relations as well as the international education available to myself keeps me at the very forefront of providing the safest, most effective plastic surgical care to patients at my own practice."
