CHICAGO, IL--(Marketwire - September 25, 2007) - Russell Vinick, Music Director of the LSSO, has announced an exciting season of classical music that is sure to please our Chicago area audiences. The season promises to be both diverse and stimulating, featuring such renowned soloists as John Bruce Yeh, clarinetist of the CSO and Rohan Krishnamurthy on the South Indian Hand Drum. Performing at the beautiful auditorium of Northside College Preparatory High School at 5501 N. Kedzie in Chicago, our concerts will be held on October 28, 2007; January 27, 2008; March 30, 2008 and June 8, 2008 at 3:30pm.

The LSSO is in our 34th season, and is one of the premier community orchestras in Chicago. Our mission is to provide high quality, affordable music for classical music aficionados. Our October 28th program "Listener Friendly" will feature Mr. Yeh performing the "Weber Concertino" for Clarinet and the "Debussy Premiere Rhapsody" for Clarinet. Mr. Yeh joined the Chicago Symphony Orchestra in 1977, having been appointed solo bass clarinet of the Orchestra at the age of nineteen by Sir Georg Solti. Also featured will be the Enigma Variations by Elgar and the Walton Crown Imperial. On January 27th, our program "Beauty and the Beat" highlights Mr. Krishnamurthy with a world premiere of "Start's Early Reflections and Echoes," and the magnificent and lush Brahms "Symphony No. 3." Completing the program will be the elegance of Haydn's "Drum Roll Symphony." On March 30th, audiences will be toe-tapping to our "As American as Apple Pie" program featuring Patrick Godon performing Gershwin's much loved "Rhapsody in Blue." Also featured will be Copland's "Appalachian Spring" and works by Bernstein and Barber. Closing the season on June 8th, our program "A Must Sea" features Debussy's La Mer which uses the orchestra as a paintbrush while capturing the mood and color of the sea. Rachmaninoff's "Symphonic Dances" and Glinka's "Russlan and Ludmilla Overture" complete the program.

Ticket prices are $18.00 for adults, $12.00 for students and seniors. Group rates are available.
