Lake Worth Chiropractor Says Pain Relief Is Just the Beginning

LAKE WORTH, FL--(Marketwire - Dec 13, 2011) - Dr. Jack Cacic, who runs a Lake Worth chiropractic care clinic serving patients throughout Palm Springs, West Palm Beach, Boynton Beach, Lantana, and Green Acres areas, promotes a preventative approach to pain relief that is gaining momentum with patients: achieving whole-body wellness to avoid illness and injury in the first place. While most of Dr. Cacic's patients first see him because they have injuries or other pain management issues, he stresses that preventing pain by addressing total-body health is more efficient, cost-effective and personally helpful than simply fixing an injury after it happens.

Dr. Cacic has provided chiropractic services in the area for 10 years, treating patients suffering from headaches, sciatica, back pain, and neck pain through a series of spinal adjustments. But the doctor says his methods encompass a much broader approach: "Unlike traditional western medicine, which usually focuses on treating an isolated symptom or condition by itself, we believe in treating the whole person. So while our first goal with each patient may be pain relief, that's just the first step. The next steps, such as nutritional counseling, exercise, continuing spinal adjustments, lifestyle counseling, massage therapy, and so on, are just as essential."

According to chiropractic medicine, the body is a self-healing organism that can maintain its strength well into old age, as long as it is well maintained. Because the central nervous system operates within the spinal column, chiropractors assert that many painful conditions occur when long term poor posture, obesity, or injury put stress on parts of the spine. These "subluxations," as chiropractors call them, pinch nerves and block messages from flowing throughout the body as they should. This, in turn, leads to pain and illness.

A chiropractor helps patients overcome these problems with spinal adjustments and possibly even prevent future injuries throughout the body. According to Dr. Cacic, pain may be a late-stage symptom of problems. He recommends that people come in, even if they are not currently hurt, so he is able to help prevent pain before it starts.

Dr. Cacic stresses that although spinal adjustments for relieving pain are a major part of his practice, prevention is his focus. He cites statistics from the Centers for Disease Control that indicates almost half of the people in America suffer from a chronic, but preventable, disease. "This creates an enormous drain on the community and economy, not to mention the personal cost of lives lost, or lived in pain, and families suffering from what, in large part, are preventable diseases," Dr. Cacic says.

Dr. Cacic treats patients Monday through Friday and also takes appointments on Saturdays. As a chiropractor, he reiterates, "If I can help people change their lives through better posture, diet, weight loss, stress relief, and regular exercise, or help them quit unhealthy habits, I know I'm making a positive impact, one patient at a time."
