Lakeshore Learning Materials chooses HighJump Warehouse Management System

Adaptability of WMS leads top educational products provider to select HighJump WMS for new distribution center

MINNEAPOLIS, MN--(Marketwired - November 30, 2016) - HighJump, a global provider of supply chain network solutions, announced today that Lakeshore Learning Materials has selected HighJump™ Warehouse Advantage as its warehouse management system (WMS). Lakeshore Learning Materials is a leading developer and retailer of innovative educational products for schools and homes, serving teachers, parents and children from birth through sixth grade.

The family-owned business needed a WMS for the 500,000-square-foot distribution center it is opening in Midway, Ky., next year. Lakeshore Learning sought a software provider with experience developing systems for highly-automated warehouses like this state-of-the-art facility.

"HighJump has a strong track record of tailoring warehouse technology to the unique workflows of different businesses, which made it the best option for us," Lakeshore Learning Chief Operating Officer Jennifer Centazzo said. "As an organization, we are constantly attempting to increase the efficiency of our operation. That philosophy means we adjust our processes regularly, and the ability to adapt our WMS to those processes without depending on a technology vendor will lead to major savings over time."

Lakeshore Learning offers a wide variety of educational materials and supplies, from classroom furniture and math & language resources, to science kits, arts & crafts, and more. Family-operated for three generations, Lakeshore opened its first store in California in 1954 and has since grown into an internationally-recognized educational provider with a thriving online business and 60 retail stores nationwide.

Lakeshore's new distribution center will allow the company to provide even faster, more nimble service to its diverse customer base -- which includes elementary schools, preschools, child care centers, and individual teachers and parents -- while also supplying merchandise for its retail chain. Having a distribution network this unique and varied requires software built on a sophisticated yet flexible platform.

"The combination of a cutting-edge warehouse and HighJump WMS will give Lakeshore Learning a true competitive advantage," said Chad Collins, chief operating officer, HighJump. "This is a solution with the scalability to grow with the company as it continues to distinguish itself as the country's top provider of materials that shape our youngest minds."
