Lakeshore Recycling Systems Acquires C&D Recycling, Now Controls and Processes Over 2 Million Tons of Waste Material Annually, More Than Any Other Privately-Held Company in Illinois

CHICAGO, IL--(Marketwired - March 10, 2016) - Lakeshore Recycling Systems (LRS), Chicagoland's leading independent recycling and waste diversion provider, today announced it has acquired Northbrook, Ill.-based C&D Recycling. With the acquisition, LRS will control and process over 2 million tons of waste material annually, more than any other privately held company in Illinois. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Founded in 2007, C&D Recycling is an integrated recycling facility priding itself on years of customer service excellence, world-class machinery and outstanding recycling capabilities. With the addition of C&D Recycling, LRS now operates six Material Recovery Facilities (MRFs) throughout Chicagoland and Illinois, annual revenues in excess of $130 million and over 540 full-time employees.

"The acquisition of C&D Recycling advances our rapid growth by adding a strategic asset and location in the northern Chicago suburbs. C&D Recycling, with their envious reputation for outstanding customer service and capabilities, is uniquely positioned to propel our growth in Northern Illinois markets," said Lakeshore Recycling Systems CEO Alan T. Handley. "We welcome C&D Recycling customers and employees to the LRS family, and remain committed to realizing aggressive and profitable growth through both organic and strategic acquisition."

LRS differentiates from other Chicagoland haulers through competitive pricing, innovative technology, and by owning no landfills as part of its proven business model focused on sustainability. The company serves all 605 Chicago Public Schools, eight area City Colleges of Chicago sites, and is expanding aggressively in Chicago's north shore, where LRS became the first waste and recycling company to introduce organic recycling in Illinois. Organic recycling combines landscaping and food that LRS turns into compost. LRS serves residences and businesses in Winnetka, Glencoe, Highland Park, Highwood, Deerfield, Bannockburn, Riverwoods, Evanston, Skokie and Golf and anticipates continued growth throughout Chicago's collar counties.
