Lakewood Dentist to Guest Speak at Local Dental Meeting

LAKEWOOD, CO--(Marketwired - April 22, 2015) - Dr. David Edlund, a leading Denver dental implant dentist, will serve as the guest speaker during a dental gathering in May.
Dr. Edlund, who operates the practice Hampden Dental Care, uses sophisticated 3D technology and guided computer assistance to place dental implants. Dr. Edlund is a consultant for Henry Schein Corp and Planmeca and regularly lectures on 3D imaging, specially for placing dental implants. He has taught dental students and fellow dentists who have been in practice for years.

Dental implants have become a popular solution for patients living with uncomfortable removable dentures or missing teeth. Dr. Edlund provides dental implants for patients with individual missing teeth and uses All on 4 dental implants for patients missing entire arches of teeth. Using 3D imaging and computer guided methods, Dr. Edlund has taken out "the guess work" in placing dental implants and can plan the treatment down to the last millimeter.

Dr. Edlund said patients benefit from 3D imaging because of the reduced radiation and accurate scans.

"This is exciting because now doctors can more accurately diagnose and treat dental disease and more accurately place dental implants," Dr. Edlund said. "Patients are amazed at the clarity and detail of the scans. Staff is amazed at how easy it is to accurately place dental implants."

Lakewood Dental Care, 7425 W. Hampden Ave., is a comprehensive dental office that provides preventive dentistry, restorative dentistry, cosmetic dentistry, implant dentistry and gum disease and gum recession treatment.

Dr. Edlund earned a bachelor's degree in chemistry from Southern Illinois University with a minor emphasis in physics and mathematics. He then received his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree in 1982 from Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville. He started Lakewood Dental Care immediately after graduating dental school. Dr. Edlund is currently enrolled in courses at MIT, where he continues training on using 3D imaging to fabricate dental implant surgical guides.

Since graduating dental school, Dr. Edlund has immersed himself in continuing education courses -- about 100 hours every year -- in order to integrate the latest technology into his practice. He uses digital radiography; 3D imaging to diagnose patients and place dental implants; CAD-CAM technology to provide patients same-day crowns; and the Nd:YAG laser for periodontal therapy. Dr. Edlund is trained in the LANAP procedure for gum disease treatment and is a Fellow of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists. He earned his certificate in dental implants from the Misch International Institute of Implants.

As the Dental Careers of Colorado LLC program director and instructor, Dr. Edlund takes a special interest in training students on the latest dental technology.
