LAN Airlines Implements Interline Electronic Ticketing with oneworld Partners

MIAMI--(CCNMatthews - Jun 15, 2005) -

LAN Airlines (NYSE:LFL) recently completed the implementation process for interline electronic ticketing with its partners in the oneworld alliance.

This means that LAN Airlines customers can now enjoy the convenience of traveling with just one electronic ticket throughout a combined network of unparalleled coverage formed by the alliance's eight member airlines - American Airlines, British Airways, Qantas, Cathay Pacific, Iberia, LAN, Finnair and Aer Lingus - and their 17 affiliates. Together, they serve 602 destinations in 136 countries around the world.

Interline electronic ticketing offers passengers a series of advantages. Connections between flights by different airlines are easier and more reliable, and the time and inconvenience involved in changing reservations from one company to another are reduced. Also, customers do not have to worry about loss or theft of traditional paper tickets. Checking in is faster and simpler, and passengers have access to the speed and convenience of new automated processes such as self-service or Internet check-in, thus helping eliminate airport procedures.

Ignacio Cueto, Chief Executive Officer for LAN Airlines' passenger division, noted that, "The implementation of interline electronic ticketing makes travel across oneworld's unmatched worldwide network simpler and easier for our passengers, delivering an efficient, top-quality product that puts the latest technology at the service of LAN Airlines' customers."

oneworld is the first alliance to implement interline electronic ticketing, providing significant benefits to its customers. According to John McCulloch, a managing partner at oneworld, "This is a reflection of oneworld's determination to offer the best service, differentiating the alliance from our competitors and capturing the advantages of technology for the benefit of our passengers and shareholders. It also demonstrates the ability of oneworld to generate and implement projects quickly and efficiently, thanks to the commitment and high standards of the airlines making up the alliance."
