LAN Airlines Named Best South American Airline by Skytrax

MIAMI--(CCNMatthews - Jun 24, 2005) -

LAN Airlines (NYSE:LFL) has been chosen as the Best Airline South America based on product quality and service in the latest World Airline Awards announced this month by Skytrax Research of London.

The 2005 World Airline Awards are based on the annual Airline Survey conducted by Skytrax between June 2004 and May 2005. The survey measures over 35 different aspects of passenger satisfaction for each airline's product and service standards. The independent survey is regarded as a primary benchmarking tool for passenger satisfaction levels of airlines throughout the world. Worldwide survey interviews totaled more than 12 million respondents, an increase of 1.5 million interviews over 2004, with over 94 different passenger nationalities participating in the survey.

"We are very proud to receive this important recognition for our daily efforts to always offer a service of excellence that is consistent and distinguished throughout the entire network of destinations operated by the company," said Ignacio Cueto, Chief Executive Officer of LAN Airlines' passenger division. "Our passengers' constant preference is the best demonstration of the quality of product that LAN gives to its clients and for which it has been recognized internationally."
