LAN Cargo Appoints New CEO

MIAMI--(CCNMatthews - Jan 26, 2006) -

LAN Cargo has appointed Cristian Ureta as its new Chief Executive Officer.

Ureta, most recently the company's Chief Operating Officer, has been instrumental to LAN Cargo's profitable development and network expansion in recent years, as well as the acquisition of new aircrafts, all of which are a true testament to his successful leadership abilities.

"Our goals for 2006 and beyond include surpassing a billion dollars in sales and consolidating the European market, as well as developing the Asia-Latin America markets by increasing our interline agreements with Asian carriers and the possibility of introducing our own operations to the region," says Ureta. "We'll also take delivery of another Boeing 767-freighter in October, and as always, we'll continue to focus efforts on providing the highest quality service and surpassing our customers' needs."

Ureta has continuously proven his leadership strengths in various managerial positions. He began his career in the aviation industry as a cargo services manager for Fast Air Carrier, S.A. in Santiago, Chile, followed by subsequent promotions to various managerial positions at Aerotransportes MAS de Carga S.A. de C.V. in Mexico City.

Ureta earned a degree in civil engineering from the Universidad Catolica de Chile in Santiago, Chile and also participated in the Stanford Executive Program at Stanford University, CA.

LAN Cargo is the largest Latin American cargo holding company, providing air transport to more than 50 destinations in 20 countries with a focus on Latin America and is expected to rank among the 10 largest world cargo companies within three years. LAN Cargo transports air cargo in the bellies of LAN Airlines passenger aircraft, in its dedicated freighter fleet, in wet-leased or chartered freighters, and in the bellies of other international airlines.
