Lands' End Survey Predicts a Joyful and Giving Holiday Season

DODGEVILLE, WI--(Marketwired - Nov 20, 2014) - Say so long to the Scrooge and goodbye to the Grinch, the 2014 holiday season is about merriment and giving. A recent holiday survey by Lands' End found an overwhelming majority of holiday revelers are joyful and believe it truly is better to give than to receive this holiday season. Almost three-quarters of the holiday survey respondents (74 percent) stated they are merry and joyful this season and eight out of ten respondents (80 percent) would choose to give gifts instead of receive them this year.

This season, Lands' End is offering a variety of gifts that are sure to leave a lasting sense of joy both for the gift-giver and the recipient. From luxe leather to the sweetest of holiday treats, some presents are guaranteed to be a holiday hit. In fact, according to the survey, respondents rated apparel/clothing items (73 percent), gift cards (70 percent) and holiday treats (61 percent) high on holiday shopping lists.

While some gift cards may seem like an impersonal choice, Lands' End offers a variety of holiday-themed gift cards that can include a personal greeting or message in amounts from $5 - $500. Gift-givers can even purchase an e-gift card that can also include a photo or a recorded audio greeting and can be delivered almost instantly via email.

Everyone seems to love giving holiday treats, and this year Lands' End is offering more of the delicious delicacies than ever before. In addition to the popular Peppermint Crunch Cookies, English Butter Toffee and Sea Salt Caramels, shoppers can also choose from the new Cranberry Almond Myrtles® and a Holiday Candy Sampler featuring Chocolate Jalapeño Meltaways.

Additional Holiday Survey Findings

  • Cyber Shopping - Two-thirds (66 percent) of survey respondents stated they will do most of their holiday shopping online this year.

  • To Stress or Not to Stress - Survey respondents were very divided when it came to holiday stress. More than half (51 percent) said they experience holiday stress while 49 percent stated the holidays are stress-free.

  • Stylish Sleeping - Four out of ten (40 percent) respondents plan on wearing special holiday pajamas this season.

  • Present Procrastination - A large percentage of respondents (46 percent) admit to procrastinating when it comes to holiday shopping.

  • Free Shipping! - More than half of holiday shoppers (56 percent) stated they plan to shop on National Free Shipping Day.

  • All About Convenience - When it comes to online shopping, 84 percent of respondents do so for the convenience. Other reasons include to avoid the crowds (77 percent), find the best deals (76 percent) and to comparison shop (75 percent).

  • When to Shop - Most holiday shoppers will shop during the first two weeks of December (42 percent). Only 1 percent will wait until Christmas Eve.
