Large Public Utility Expands Agreement With GEM to Include Environmental Data Management

POMONA, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- March 1, 2007 -- General Environmental Management, Inc. (GEM) (OTCBB: GEVI), a leading environmental and waste remediation company, announced today its proprietary data management software GEMWare® has been selected by a large southern California-based public utility as its exclusive environmental data management system. This agreement expands upon GEM's previously announced five year comprehensive waste management agreement with the utility.

"A key element of our growth strategy is the full scope of services we provide for our clients, including environmental data management through GEMWare," said Tim Koziol, GEM's chairman and CEO. "GEMWare is unique in our industry, it offers comprehensive support critical for full compliance, and is a strong differentiator for us as we continue to win new customers and deepen our relationships with existing clients."

"Using GEMWare allows the utility's environmental department to operate more efficiently while deriving cost savings," commented Ray Early, GEM's information technology manager. "The data management had previously been handled by the utility's environmental staff in-house and now with our proprietary software, the utility will be able to seamlessly manage every step of the waste management process. In addition, as this is an internet-based program, it allows easy remote access to the information."

The outsourcing initiative gives GEM responsibility for tracking all regulated waste generated by the utility. GEMWare will provide custom comprehensive reports detailing points of waste generation, types of waste generated, shipment and delivery dates, disposal and recycling methods employed, and disposal recycling sites utilized.
