Largest Graphic Novel Series Ever Envisioned for 20th Anniversary of Bestselling Sci Fi Saga, 'Mission Earth'

U.S. Publisher Announces Open Art Contest to Find Illustrators for Mammoth Project

SAN DIEGO, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- July 15, 2005 -- Hollywood-based publisher Galaxy Press announced today that it plans to have produced what will be the largest single series of graphic novels ever published, beginning in Fall 2006, based on the 10-volume, bestselling satiric science fiction saga, "Mission Earth," penned by renowned author L. Ron Hubbard.

The 2006 release will coincide with the 20th anniversary of the popular "Mission Earth" novels.

Making the announcement at Comic-Con International 2005 in San Diego, the world's largest comic book convention, Galaxy Press said they will host a new contest to select illustrators for the graphic novels.

"'Mission Earth' holds a unique place in publishing history because each volume hit the New York Times bestseller's list upon their release," said John Goodwin, Galaxy Press' President and Publisher. "We're hoping to vividly capture and portray an equally bold, new look to honor what was Mr. Hubbard's last and most successful contribution to speculative fiction."

"As a result of this contest, we hope to find a suitable graphic artist to assist in the design and production of the graphic novels based on 'Mission Earth: The Invaders Plan,' the first volume of the 'Mission Earth' series," Goodwin stated.

Entries from professional or amateur fiction artists interested in illustrating one or more of the graphic novels will be accepted until September 30, 2005. To qualify for review, submissions should depict at least one scene from any of Hubbard's "Mission Earth" novels, widely available in bookstores, libraries and, of course, Comic Con International.

Entry forms are available at the Galaxy Press Comic Con Booth #1030 or via e-mail by request to No entry fees are required. No purchase required. Submissions will not be returned.
