Larkin Street Youth Services Mourns the Loss of Patricia C. Dunn

Youth Agency Recognizes the Accomplishments and Philanthropy of a Long-Standing and Beloved Board Member

SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwire - Dec 7, 2011) - Larkin Street Youth Services, the San Francisco based homeless and at-risk youth services non-profit, mourns the passing of Patricia (Pattie) C. Dunn, a Larkin Street Board member and retired CEO of Barclays Global Investors (now BlackRock). Pattie, on Larkin Street's Board for over 9 years, was an active member of the Board and Executive Committee. During that time, Pattie endeared all those at the agency with her wisdom, graceful leadership, sense of humor, and her abiding passion to serving the agency's mission. Tens of thousands of young people were helped while she was with the agency, benefiting immeasurably from her service, dedication and philanthropy.

Pattie and her husband, Bill Jahnke, were long-standing advocates and supporters of Larkin Street. As generous Bay Area philanthropists, the couple actively supported and helped shape fundraising and strategic planning activities at the agency, and they were very instrumental in obtaining private sector support for Larkin Street's 25 youth programs. Pattie was a deeply engaged and active board member, volunteering many hours of her time through Board committees, one-on-one staff mentoring, and cultivation of community relationships. As a result of her high profile and strong influence in Bay Area corporate networks, Pattie was also a champion among local corporations and other philanthropists for corporate and foundation support of Larkin Street.

As noted by Phil Estes, Larkin Street Board Chair, "Pattie charmed us with her incredible wit, inspired us with her battle tested leadership, challenged us with her brilliant mind, amazed us with her capacity to conquer challenges, and warmed us to the core with her generous heart."

Sherilyn Adams, Larkin Street Executive Director notes "We will miss Pattie so much, both as a valued board member and as a beloved friend. Our thoughts and prayers are with her husband and family whom we also cherish dearly."
