Latest Eagle Broadband MediaPro Set-Top Box Gains Design Win and Initial Order With New Hospitality Customer

Innovative Technology to Be Deployed in Hospitality Industry

LEAGUE CITY, TX -- (MARKET WIRE) -- January 11, 2007 -- Eagle Broadband, Inc. (AMEX: EAG), a national provider of broadband, Internet Protocol (IP) and digital communications technology and services, today announced that its MediaPro IP3000HD set-top box has been selected, and an initial order for 500 units has been placed, by a leading hospitality solutions provider who is an established name in hospitality integration, but was not previously a customer of Eagle Broadband.

This new customer, which is not yet ready to reveal its innovative hospitality solution based on the Eagle box, has chosen to be the first provider to bring new high-definition IPTV solutions to the hospitality marketplace based on the MediaPro IP3000HD's advanced capabilities.

Eagle's Linux-based IP3000HD set-top box is currently unique in its ability to support the strongest Digital Rights Management (DRM) including both conditional access and session-based watermarking. This last named capability is a critical differentiator for hospitality systems to meet the highest level of content protection defined by the major Hollywood Studios and therefore allows hotels to offer their guests access to the largest possible range of high-definition movie titles prior to DVD release.

The IP3000HD has a compact footprint and quiet, fan-less design that delivers exceptional streaming video quality, supporting both NTSC and PAL broadcast standards. It uses an advanced system-on-chip architecture with an integrated graphics accelerator to provide advanced functionality in a low cost platform. The architecture has dedicated multimedia engines executing in parallel to deliver the highest performance 2D, 3D graphics and video capabilities with motion compensation for video playback. Proprietary hardware security features facilitate advanced content protection while supporting a variety of leading middleware and video-on-demand systems.

The IP3000HD platform delivers the advanced capabilities needed by a wide variety of industries including telephone companies, broadband suppliers, plus hospitality and entertainment markets. It supports all of MPEG-2 and the new MPEG-4 AVC (H.264) video compression standards with both standard and high-definition television signals. A similar model is also available in a standard-definition-only format as the IP3000SD.
