Latest Oracle Patch Updates Heighten Demand for Safer and Easier Patch Management

Quick & Reliable Deployment Critical to Minimizing the Cost of Patching

NEW YORK, NY -- (MARKET WIRE) -- April 18, 2007 -- GridApp Systems, Inc. (www.gridapp.com), the leading provider of database automation software and solutions, today issued a patch advisory alerting enterprises to the latest critical patch updates issued by Oracle. On April 17th, Oracle issued 13 critical patch updates for the database, three of which address vulnerabilities that could be remotely exploitable over a network without requiring a user name or password on the database. It also includes non-security fixes that are required -- because of interdependencies -- by those security patches. The challenge facing many IT shops is how to quickly, securely and confidently manage the patch process across hundreds of thousands of databases supporting mission critical applications.

"Organizations maintaining sensitive customer data should be especially efficient in deploying the latest patch updates; patch updates are extremely important to mitigating some significant database security risks," said Matthew Zito, Chief Scientist for GridApp Systems. "By establishing an automated patching process, which follows a predetermined workflow and accounts for all company standards and best practices, companies can ensure that their databases are patched in the most efficient and secure way possible."

GridApp Systems' Clarity database automation software enables organizations to automate patch installation by building a workflow that reduces the time required to implement patches from days and weeks to hours. Using the Clarity interface, IT shops can begin by testing patches in sandbox environments, then roll out the patches across as many or as few databases as necessary. GridApp Clarity™ also enables administrators to easily cross-check patch installation throughout the entire infrastructure, and monitor any changes in performance.

Using Clarity for patch management greatly simplifies patch installation, reducing the time and resources required for deployment by a factor of up to 75 percent. Moreover, with Clarity, database administrators can customize their workflow processes to ensure they always know the state of their databases -- such as, which database have been patched, including information on when and why -- for improved standards enforcement, maximum database security and efficiency.
