Latest UK Recruitment Drives Welcomed, Say reed.co.uk

Many Established Global Businesses Are Now Pursuing Huge Recruitment Drives in an Attempt to Kick-Start Growth, and Instil Jobseeker Confidence.

SURREY, UNITED KINGDOM--(Marketwire - Feb. 14, 2012) - Despite negative media reports trying to dent the optimism amongst jobseekers, reed.co.uk, one of the UK's leading websites for sales, construction and graduate jobs, have announced that many recognised global business are now pursuing new recruitment drives in an attempt to get thousands back into work and stimulate company growth.

Some of the world's most successful companies are now kick-starting brand new recruitment drives in the UK. Global brands including, Twitter, BSkyB (+1300 jobs), Barclays, British Airways (800 jobs) and electronics giants Samsung (+500 jobs), have all recently announced UK based recruitment drives for 2012, covering many professions.

In Barclays' case: from April, the Bank will be accepting applications for their brand new apprenticeship scheme, which will see 1000 trainees working across the company's UK retail and business banking divisions. Barclays assures jobseekers that the scheme will run nationwide; purging worries that the scheme will specifically target budding financiers looking for jobs in London.

Similarly ASDA, the UK's second largest supermarket chain, hopes to recruit a further 5000 more employees over the course of the year. This announcement, praised and supported by Prime Minister David Cameron, comes after the supermarket recently reported a huge £500 million expansion programme, which will see 25 brand new stores open nationwide this year.

However it's not just private sector businesses creating welcomed job opportunities amongst jobseekers. Public sector recruitment drives are also helping to irradiate the shortfalls in employment opportunities across much of the UK.

The Royal Navy and Royal Air Force are both currently running huge recruitment campaigns in the UK, with advertisements for positions running across major television channels. The NHS has also embarked on its own recruitment drive, covering many hospitals throughout the UK, and targeting professionals across many medical sector jobs. For example, in January, two NHS hospitals in Kent began recruiting 40 nurses.
