Latin American Youth Speak Forum 2016 to Raise the Youth Voice and Promote Discussions and to Contribute to the Global Urban Agenda

Shaping One Latin America for Habitat III Will Bring Together More Than 400 Young Leaders From Over 20 Countries to Co-Create Projects Aligned With the Sustainable Development Goal #11: Make Cities Inclusive, Safe, Resilient and Sustainable

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwired - Apr 7, 2016) - On Friday, April 8, 8:30 am, AIESEC in Colombia will host the Youth Speak Forum: Shaping One Latin America for Habitat III. An event of AIESEC, UN Habitat and PVBLIC Foundation will bring together more than 400 young leaders from across the region and experts from different sectors (government, business and NGO), at International Business Center Corferias, in Bogota, Colombia. The event aims to facilitate a multicultural environment where young people, with the guidance of guests and speakers, will come up with innovative solutions and co-create a plan that will directly impact the urban agenda in every country in Latin America to thereby contribute to the development of inclusive, safe and sustainable cities.

Youth Speak Forum agenda was developed so that all attendees can join and create a tangible plan based on inspiration and collaboration for our societies. That is why the event agenda was developed under the pillars of "inspire, engage and act". The inspire block will have presentations focused on bringing the context of different realities that the region faces. In "engage" block guests will have the opportunity to participate in workshops focused on mobility, community development, poverty in urban areas, decision-making and media driving social impact, indigenous youth and inclusion, youth and local governance and social equality in cities. Finally, the agenda will conclude with mobilizing young people to take action and train them to become active participants in their cities and communities.

All information collected at the event is going to be used as a guide for the New Urban Agenda to be created on October 17, 2016, in Quito, Ecuador at the Habitat III conference, with UN-Habitat and global government representatives to secure renewed political commitment for sustainable urban development, assess accomplishments to date, address poverty and identify and address new and emerging challenges.

Representing the Colombia's public sector, the event partners with SENA, as the responsible for fulfilling the role that corresponds to the State to invest in the social and technical development of Colombian workers, contributing to the social, economic and technological development. In addition, following organizations are collaborating to ensure the success of this event: UN-Habitat, PVBLIC Foundation, PwC, Secretary of Diego Molano (Ex-minister of TICs), TECHO, Universal Assistance, Interjet, Corferias, Web-Congress, One Young World, Alianza Social Uniandina, Dow Química de Colombia S.A., Hult International Business School and Tata Consultancy Services.
