Latino Political Power and Gubernatorial Candidate Positions to Be Debated at California's Only Statewide Pre-Election Latino Issues Forum

Immigration, Proposition 86, Affordable Housing and Voter Apathy to Be Discussed

LOS ANGELES, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- October 6, 2006 --

WHAT:   The 2006 election season's only major gubernatorial panel
        discussion focused on the Latino vote. The roundtable discussion
        titled "How Important is the Latino Vote in the Gubernatorial
        Election?" is part of the all-day "Latino Vote 2006" conference
        sponsored by the Latino Issues Forum (LIF). It will examine each
        candidate's position on key policy issues that affect Latino
        voters. It will also explore the effect of the Latino vote and the
        impact of immigration marches on the 2006 election.

           Tomas Rivera Policy Institute

        The LIF Conference will be attended by representatives of The
        Nature Conservancy, Children's Defense Fund, the Coalition for
        Clean Air, the Pat Brown Institute, the Mexican American Political
        Association, MALDEF, CARECEN and the National Hispanic Media
        Coalition.

        Established in 1987, the Latino Issues Forum (LIF) is a non-profit
        institute focused on public policy issues that affect the social
        and economic future of the Latino community.
